About Us

The SOS Club and Friends, formed in 2015, is based in Pattaya, Thailand.

We have over 500 members worldwide. There are no membership fees, no subscriptions, and any donations are purely voluntary.
Anyone who has actually attended a meeting, or charity function, and has donated, is recognised as a member.
Those who follow our face book page and like, comment or engage, is recognised as a friend.

The Club does not have a base but visits over twenty bars who support our fundraising efforts.
Meetings are weekly on Sundays and take place between 2pm and 6pm (sometimes later) with a formal toast to absent friends at 5pm.
Dress is informal for meetings but more appropriate when attending the war grave cemeteries in Kanchanaburi and Pretchuap Khiri Kahn.

The primary aim of the SOS Club is to raise the awareness of SSAFA, the armed forces charity.
The SOS Club and Friends is a registered fundraiser for SSAFA (UK Charity number is 210760 and Scotland SCO38056). Our fundraising registration number is 390346.

Over the years we have become aware of local deserving causes and have included them in our efforts. These include the Take Care Kids Foundation, the Pattaya Foodbank Programme and our own campaign Shoes for Kids.
Other charities supported over the years have been the RBL Poppy Appeal, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, Royal Hospital Chelsea and the Black Watch Museum amongst others.

We celebrate, or commemorate VE Day, VJ Day, D Day, Armed Forces Day, Dunkirk, Battle of Britain Day, Gallipoli, Trafalgar, Remembrance Day and ANZAC Day.

A social group, meeting in a charitable and informal manner, but respectful of those that have served their countries, and those we have loved and lost.

We have proved, over the years, that you can put the fun into fundraising but can halt the proceedings to pay respect.
