ROYAL HOSPITAL CHELSEA

Royal Hospital Chelsea, the home of the Chelsea Pensioners, has a working history with the SOS Club and Friends, indeed a dozen or more SOS members have worked there on numerous occasions.

Friendship developed and contact established.

During our 2018 SSAFA Raffle, the second prize, won by Glasgow SOS member Billy Coyle, was presented to pensioner and honorary SOS member Colin Thackery, who had become a notable celebrity winning Britain’s Got Talent. Colin’s autobiography stands proudly in the SOS library.

To find out the fairy tale ending to our 2018 SSAFA Raffle you’d have to read it in our sections for SSAFA and/or Kanchanaburi School for impaired children, fascinating!

During our annual SSAFA Raffles Chelsea Pensioner keyrings were the regular prizes, and still are on special occasions.

The 2018 SSAFA prize, an electric guitar commemorating 100 years of the RAF, visited the Hospital, was played and signed by Jeff Beck, substantially increasing it’s popularity. Our pictures show some of our members imagining they’re rock stars!

Many happy memories, those Pensioners certainly know how to enjoy themselves.
